Methods of Recruitment
There are many different types of ways to get a job in the Media industry such things as:
- Online - finding a job online is pretty simple you find all kinds of stuff in every sector of media because it is a big industry just the problem is finding them close so you can actually go to them also you can go on countless big company website such as BBC, sky and they have work experience opportunities also some of them have apprenticeships available that you can sign up for by submitting your CV them if they like you you go in for an interview take your portfolio and the rest is up to you. The websites i was talking about are: http://jobs.theguardian.com/jobs/media/ - the online newspaper where people advertise jobs around the UK area. since i am interested in animation i am looking at jobs online that have to about animation and this is one of the websites that i have found, http://www.animatedjobs.com/
- Newspapers - Finding a job locally or worldwide is easy just you have to know where to look a way of this is through the newspapers either the local one for me that would be Since I live in Tesside the evening gazette would be our newspaper so if i was looking to get a job i would look in there but as a listed before you can access some newspapers online but again you don't just have to look locally because since i am doing animation if i am looking for a job i am not just going to look in one newspaper there are plenty of others in England such as also there are magazines examples of animation magazines where you can look for jobs are, http://www.awn.com/animationworld, Digital creative arts, animation magazine the list can go on some of these magazines you cant get locally and some of they can be accessed online.
- Networking -This is all about having the right people in your life and this links into word of mouth what I am talking about is since I am planning to do animation I would need people who work in the businesses to tell me about possible job opportunities, like if you do work experience in a company such as Pixar and you meet someone there who knows when job opportunities come up you make him a friend so when the next job comes up he can put in a good word for you and then you have a chance to get the job. also going into networking If you know the right people throughout the years thy can invite you to events in the media industry or other in that event you want to know the right people to go up to and introduce yourself make some small talk and big your self up to get your name on their lips also you have online opportunities to network through Twitter following the right people also this applies to Facebook its all about just making the right friends and having a good understanding of how to network and make your name stick on the right peoples mind.
- Work experience - work experience is when you are just starting out and you need that experience to get future jobs because now in the modern age people will not employ you unless you have some sort of experience and sometimes it doesn't even have to be about the Job you are looking to get what i mean by that is if you go and get work experience in a cake factory or bakery and the you go and try and get a job in BBC as long as you have experience you do have a chance to get the job because that would make you look like a strong candidate even though it has nothing to do about the BBC all they are looking for is experience.
- Sending out Portfolio's to companies - This is not always guaranteed to get you a job it's just really sending your stuff out and hoping that you get a reply also with the portfolio you want to send out a strong CV with it but they might pass your name to someone else.
